A reality competition centering on special-effects make-up.

In Face Off, special-effects make-up artists explore their full range of creativity as they are tasked with varying challenges such as full-body paint make-up and creating their own horror villain.

The challenges are not only limited to make-up, as other skills such as prosthetics, 3D design, and sculpting are explored.

Each episode of the show will display the competitors' finished work, and one contestant is sent home by a panel of expert and celebrity judges. The eventual winner is crowned Face Off champion and receives a $100,000 grand prize.

Judges include three-time Academy Award winner Ve Neill (Pirates of the Caribbean, Edward Scissorhands), Glenn Hetrick (Heroes, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The X-Files) and Patrick Tatopoulos (Underworld, Independence Day, Resident Evil: Extinction).

This is one of my absolute favorite shows to watch. I keep hoping they're going to bring it back, maybe a different channel under a different name? Are they having a hard time finding talent? Or do judges need a break? If so, rotate the judges. I am having a hard time coming to terms with this ending, that's how much I love this show. Saw 1st season of Game Face and didn't like it as much due to format: short episode then they're gone. Need to be following their work thru a season, watching them grow and rooting for your favorites. Very sad right now.

The only reality series I watch. Very sorry to hear that this will be it's last season... but I see that immediately following it is a new series called "Face Off: Game Face." Hopefully it will be similar to the original, and continue on after the original series ends.

probably the ONLY reality series i actually like. Its amazing to see the talent the contestants have. They do amazing work, the ones that don't win could still make a living by offering to make up for plays, Halloween and other things.

I normally don't like reality shows. Face-off is different. It's not about cast drama it's about talent. I love learning how certain make up special effects are accomplished. Face Off is definitely a must see if you want to know how creatures, monsters, zombies, fantasy characters and more are created in movies and TV shows.
